Observation

Since we moved AI3 link from JCSAT 3 to JCSAT 1B, ion February 2000, it has been observed that the noise/signal ration (Eb/No) is more stable.

The periods compared on the graph bellow are on 9 days, from January 10th, 1999 at 00:00 (Thailand time) to January 19th, 1999 at 00:00 for the orange c

urve, and from Marsh 1st, 2000 to Marsh 10th, 2000 for the blue curve. The orange cvurve monitors the Eb/No ratio on JCSAT 3 while the blue curves corresponds to JCSAT 1B. The periods observed are limited to 9 days as:

  1. The change of satellite is still pretty recent.
  2. We have only 9 days of continuous data without data collecting error or interruption due to the rain.

Statistical results

Quick computation on the data collected shows that the Eb/No ratio was much stronger on the JCSAT 3 satellite (orange) but the signal support much less variations during the day on JCSAT 1B (blue).
